At the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring works written for the Cathedrals of Mexico and the Missions in the Amazonas. The festival is presented in collaboration with the Mission San Jose, Mission Concepción, the Archdiocese of San Antonio, to promote the awareness of the historical, musical and architectural wealth of the New Spain. As part of the festival Opera Hispánica is proud to present the Segundo Barrio Children Chorus from Houston, TX, the Coro Esperanza Azteca and the Filarmónica Joven de Ciudad Juarez from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez at Mission San José.


Saturday, June 6th, 7PM. Mission San Jose. A program featuring Baroque music from the cathedrals and missions of Latin America.

Sunday, June 7th, 7PM. Mission Concepcion. OH presents members of the youth ensemble Esperanza Azteca de la Universidad Autónoma Ciudad Juárez (MX) performing Ignacio de Jerusalém's Misa de Infantes, written in the 18th century for the Cathedral of Mexico, contemporary to the development of the Missions in San Antonio.
Agnus Dei from Misa de Infantes (Ignacio de Jerusalem (1710-1769), 1767, Cathedral of Mexico) written in 1767 for the children’s choir of the Cathedral of Mexico, the same year Mission San José was built. Coro de Esperanza Azteca of Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (Guillermo Flores, director), and Filarmònica Joven de Ciudad Juárez (Jove Garcia, director), conducted by Jorge Parodi (OH's General and Artistic Director).
