A weekend of formative and collaborative performances at the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) to advance the awareness of the historical, musical, and architectural wealth of the Americas & musical works written for the Cathedrals and Missions of Latin America during the XVII c.
The festival aims to advance:
- the richness of the musical culture in the Americas, encompassing several centuries;
- the architectural, engineering and artistic achievements of the local communities of the Western USA;
- the convergence between major educational and artistic institutions, in particular children and youth ensembles whose love for music-making will become the vehicle to connect, learn, and share their passion for music, thereby providing an enriching opportunity while promoting a healthy cultural and social exchange between communities from several cities and countries.
Our closing event will feature members of the youth choir Coro Esperanza Azteca de la Universidad Autónoma Ciudad Juárez (MX) and of the Filarmònica Joven Ciudad Juárez, at UNESCO World Heritage Site Mission San Jose, performing Ignacio de Jerusalem's Misa de Infantes, written in the 18th century for the children choir of Cathedral of Mexico, contemporary to the building of the Mission.
Coro Esperanza Azteca UACJ and Filarmónica Joven de Ciudad Juárez perform a program of Mexican favorites to include Amen (Jerusalem), Cielito Lindo (Mendoza y Cortés), México Lindo y Querido (Chucho Monge), Jarabe Tapatío (Júrame (María Gerver), and other Mexican favorites.
