A weekend of formative and collaborative performances at the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) to advance the awareness of the historical, musical, and architectural wealth of the Americas & musical works written for the Cathedrals and Missions of Latin America during the XVII c.
The festival aims to advance:
- the convergence between major educational and artistic institutions, in particular children and youth ensembles whose love for music-making will become the vehicle to connect, learn, and share their passion for music, thereby providing an enriching opportunity while promoting a healthy cultural and social exchange between communities from several cities and countries;
- the richness of the musical culture in the Americas, encompassing several centuries;
- the architectural, engineering and artistic achievements of the local communities of the Western USA.
Our closing event will feature members of the youth ensemble Esperanza Azteca de la Universidad Autónoma Ciudad Juárez (MX) at UNESCO World Heritage Site Mission San Jose, performing Ignacio de Jerusalém's Misa de Infantes, written in the 18th century for the children choir of Cathedral of Mexico, contemporary to the building of the Mission.
Orchestra and Choir of Esperanza Azteca, Ciudad Juarez. Program to include Zuipaki (Zipoli), Granada (Agustín Lara), Júrame (María Grever), Estrellita (Manuel Ponce), and Huapango (Juan Pablo Moncayo).

Camille Ortiz (soprano, Puerto Rico) and Gabriel Chona Rueda (tenor, Colombia), with members of Esperanza Azteca orchestra (Mexico), and Jorge Parodi (Continuo and Music Director, Argentina), perform repertoire written for the Cathedrals of Latin America, including “Un ciego que con trabajo” (Antonio de Salazar, 1715, Mexico); “Ay andar a tocar” (Juan de Araujo, 1712, Bolivia); “In Hoc Mundo” (Zipoli, 1726, Argentina); y “Jesús, Jesús” (Manuel José Quiroz, 1765, Guatemala).
