Opera Hispánica, the premier opera company in the United States of America focused exclusively on the Hispanic operatic repertoire, is proud to present the Niños Cantores de Morelia from the Conservatorio de las Rosas -the oldest music conservatory in the Americas- to participate in a series of recitals to take place at Mission San José, one of the historic Missions of San Antonio, Texas, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO; and at the Cathedral of San Fernando, the oldest cathedral sanctuary in the US. Performances will take place on June 11that 3PM (Mission San Jose) and 7:30 PM (San Fernando Cathedral. This momentous event of international collaboration to facilitate educational exchange, to foster Hispanic American culture, and to promote the awareness of the historical, musical and architectural wealth of the New Spain is presented in collaboration with the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The repertoire will include musical selections from the Latin American Baroque, including Ignacio de Jerusalém's Misa de Infantes, written in the 18th century for the Cathedral of Mexico, contemporary to the construction of San Antonio’s missions; music from the rich historical musical archives of the Conservatorio de las Rosas; and music by contemporary Michoacan composers.
